Project Grants For Womens Issues

Programs that expand and improve
opportunities and choices in all aspects
of Jewish women's and girls' lives may
be eligible for grants from the Jewish
Women's Foundation of Metropolitan
Detroit.
The JWF was established in August
1999 by the Jewish Federation and
United Jewish Foundation of
Metropolitan Detroit.
Initial proposals for project grants
related to Jewish women's and/or girls'
issues are due March 1. Maximum
grant size is $10,000.
The JWF offers Jewish women an
opportunity to use leadership and
financial resources to make a difference
in the lives of other Jewish women and
girls, a chance to raise issues and ensure
that programs to address those con-
cerns receive finding.
The foundation has set the follow- .
ing goals:
• To address the needs of Jewish

women and girls and advance women's
and girls' issues generally
• To fund projects that seek to
improve the status of Jewish women
and girls overall, not simply to provide
services or programming that benefit
individual Jewish women and girls.
• To fund projects that addresses the
root causes of challenges faced by
Jewish women and girls.
• To be an educational vehicle for
Jewish women in philanthropy
• To be grant makers within the
context of being Jewish women: cele
brating our identities, recapturing our
biblical and historic legacy and honor-
ing our traditions of tzedakah (charita-
ble acts) and tikkun olam (repair of the
world).
