Middle School and attends Hebrew
school at Shir Shalom. Her hobbies
include bowling, baseball and swim-
ming. For community service, Erika
volunteered with the Special Olympics
and was a teacher's aide at Sunday
school. She has donated the center-
pieces from her party to Gilda's Club
Noogieland.
Rebecca Lorraine Schnee was called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Dec. 30, at Temple Beth El.
She is the daughter
of Susan and Daniel
Schnee and sister of
Ariel and Dana.

ents Ruth Schnee,
Robert and Lee
Maldegen, Barbara
and Alessandro
Armento and great-
grandmother Marie Marquardt.
Rebecca is also the granddaughter of
the late Edward C. Schnee.
Rebecca is an honor student at
Orchard Lake Middle School in West
Bloomfield, where she plays the clar-
inet in the symphony band. She is an
avid soccer player and enjoys reading
and skiing. As pat of her mitzvah pro-
ject, she volunteered at Yad Ezra and
the Coalition On Temporary Shelter
and planted flowers at the temple.
Elana Danielle Weinstein will be
called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Friday, Jan. 19, at Temple Shir
Shalom. Elana is the daughter of Debi
and Dr. Lee
Weinstein and sister
of Marni and Lila.

Barbara and Seymore
Weinstein. Great-
grandmother is
Helen Bluestone.
Elana is an honor student at Walled
Lake Middle School, where she runs
on the cross-country team and is a
member of the honors choir. For her
mitzvah projects, Elana volunteered in
the preschool at Temple Shir Shalom.
She also collected used cellular phones
that she donated to Haven. The
phones were programmed to dial 911
and were given to women in abusive
situations so they can phone for help
in emergencies.
David Franklin Weintraub will
become a bar mitzvah at Temple Israel
at Havdalah services on Saturday, Jan.
20. He is the son of Teri and Wayne
Weintraub and brother of Michael and
Carly. Happy grandparents are Lenore
and Leo Fogelman
and Sallie
Weintraub. He is
also the grandchild
of the late Manny
Weintraub.
David attends
Orchard Lake
Middle School in
West Bloomfield
and enjoys hockey, football, tennis and
music. As part of his mitzvah projects,
he found it particularly meaningful to
take his dog to a nursing home to
cheer the senior residents.
David Ross Weisman will become a
bar mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Saturday, Jan. 20. He is the son of
Joanne and Dr.
Marc Weisman and
brother of Zachary
and Emily. Happy
grandmothers are
Lillian Movish and
Dorothy Weisman.
He is also the
grandson of the late
Bill Movish and the
late Donald
Weisman.
An honor student at Berkshire
Middle School in Birmingham,
David likes playing and watching all
sports, particularly basketball. He
enjoys computers and attending
camp. David's mitzvah projects
included volunteering at Yad Ezra
and assisting at the Jewish
Association for Residential Care on
bingo nights.
Mitchell Julius Weiss will celebrate
his bar mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Friday, Jan. 19. He
is the son of Karen
and Steve Weiss and
brother of Bradley,
Daniel. and Eric.

great-grandparents Anna and Harry

A student at West Hills Middle
School in Bloomfield Hills, Mitchell
likes basketball, football, computer
games and watching sports. His most
meaningful mitzvah project was
donating to the Holocaust Memorial
Center; in addition, he enjoyed inter-
acting with the seniors at the
Fleischman Residence.
