Israeli Professor
Slates Talk

The Zionist Organization of America,
Michigan Region and the Jewish
Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit will host Natan Aviezer 7:30
p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, at the JCC in
West Bloomfield.
Aviezer is an Israeli professor and
chair of Bar-Ilan University's physics
department. He will speak on "Torah,
Science and Politics." An open discus-
sion will follow.

A biblical studies scholar will
explore archaeology and scripture
in a lecture on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at
the Jewish Community Center in
West Bloomfield.
Dr. Arthur Zannoni — a con-
sultant in biblical studies and
Christian-
Jewish rela-
dons — will
speak at 7:30
p.m. as part
of the series,
"Digging Up
the Torah:
The Impact
of Biblical
Archaeology
on Modem
Judaism."
Dr. Arthur
His topic
Zannoni
will be:
"Archaeology
and Scripture: How Archaeology
Enhances Our Understanding of
Scripture." He will speak on how
recent archaeological discoveries
have enhanced the understanding
of holy texts. A discussion will fol-
low.
Rabbi Norman Roman of
Temple Kol Ami will introduce the
guest speaker.
The lecture is co-presented by
the JCC and the Southfield-based
Ecumenical Institute for Jewish-
Christian Studies. Temple Kol Ami
is a co-sponsor.
The event is free but reservations
