the Gallery almost every day — some-
times two and three times a day. Always
meetings in the morning. And he used
to call from his car and tell me to have
some broiled chicken ready for him.
David always called it the Gallery
broiled chicken. One time he came
straight from the airport just to have
the tuna sandwich he told me he
missed so much.
"After his first operation, I hugged
David at the restaurant. Doreen said,
`No hugs' ... 'It's alright,' said David. 'I
don't mind being hugged by a Greek. -
In later years, says Stephen, David
loved the Gallery's kosher hot dogs and
French fries ... "Doreen came in for
lunch and I asked what I could make
for him. lust some French fries,' she
told me. That was the last thing I ever
made for David."
And who can ever forget one of the
times that Dave went to Israel ... when
his flight there was delayed because
security dogs went bonkers yelping
crazily at one of David's suitcases? ...
Inspection found it to be loaded with
kosher salamis.

THE TWO restaurants opened by
Paul Peristeris and Andy Stylianou, son
and son-in-law of Tommy Peristeris,
co-owner of Big Daddy's Parthenon,
have different names ... In Novi, their
230-seater is Agora Parthenon Taverna
... In Livonia, it's the 150-seat
Parthenon Express ... Both are full serv-
ice restaurants, serving 70 percent
Greek and 30 percent international
food. ❑
