n a crisp fall day, 40
people gathered to
watch a flag-burning
ceremony by the
Michigan Department, Jewish
War Veterans of the United
States of America. To the sound
of Taps on Sunday, Nov. 5, nine
worn-out American flags were
burned in the parking lot of the
JWV Memorial Home in
Southfield.
An honor guard, led by officer
of the day Jim Weiskopf of Oak
Park, conducted the half-hour
event, the most honored method
of disposing of a discarded
American flag.
