Jerusalem/JTA — Jewish settlement
leaders hired a private security company
to help the Israel Defense Forces protect
settlements and roads.
The head of the Binyamin regional
council, Pinchas Wallerstein, said the
activities were coordinated with the IDF
to boost security while eliminating
rumors of the establishment of "settler
militias" to patrol the roads.

Jordanian Groups
Issue Blacklist

Jerusalem/JTA — Jordanian profes-
sional associations and unions issued
their official blacklist of citizens who
have dealt with Israel.
The list contains the names of 22
journalists, academics, artists and others

groups publishing the list want to punish
those who promote closer ties with Israel
and to discourage others from doing so.

Cohen, visiting Qatar as part of a
regional tour, also said the violence

other countries.
