Krakover, Fred Yaffe, Al Wolin, Mark
Jacobson, Marvin Siegel, Arnold
Shifman and Warren Wertheimer ...
Not in the picture were Joel Tauber,
Jerry Laker, Jay Grant and Jerry Stern
... Former U-M basketball star, Paul
Groffsky, was honored by the atten-
dance of his former Sammys buddies
Krakover, Yaffe, Siegel, Tauber, Laker,
Wertheimer (from San Franciso) and
Shifman.
As usual, youngsters got in for the
amount of their age ... and the
younger kids had a blast with the huge
oversized bouncing and jumping bal-
loon tanks ... Moe Hozman, seeing all
the shoes lying around, said, "My
father used to be a shoemaker, and
would have made a mint if he had all
those to fix!"
MORE DANCING honors for Dee
Shapiro ... as her plastic surgeon hus-
band, Dr. Marshall Shapiro, wonders
why she didn't win more ... At the
recent Hotlanta Dance Competition
in Atlanta, Ga., she and partner Mark
Brock took 40 firsts out of their 44
dances ... About 5,200 dancers from
around the United States, competed in
the event.

OLDIE BUT GOODIE DEPT....
from Bud Sherbow ... Three sons left
home, went out on their own and
prospered.
Getting back together, they dis-
cussed the gifts they were able to give
their elderly mother.
The first son said, "I built a big
house for our mother."
The second son said, "I sent her a
Mercedes with a driver."
The third son smiled and said, "I've
got you both beat. you remember how
Mom enjoyed reading the prayer
book? And you know how she can't
see very well? So I sent her a remark-
able parrot that recites the entire
prayer book. It took men in the tern-
ple 12 years to teach him. He's one of
a kind. Mom just has to name the
chapter and verse, and the parrot
recites it."
Soon after, Morn sent out her letters
of thanks.
"Milton," she wrote the first son.
"The house you built is so huge. I live
in only one room, but I have to clean
the whole house."
"Gerald," she wrote to the second
son, "I am too old to travel. I stay
most of the time at home, so I rarely
use the Mercedes. And the driver is so
rude!"
"Dearest Donald," she wrote to her
third son. "You have the good sense to
know what your mother likes. The
chicken was delicious."
