Rachel Samantha
Winer will be called
to the Torah as a bat
mitzvah on Saturday,
Nov. 18, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek B'nai
Israel. She is the
daughter of Nancy
and Eric Winer and
sister of Molly and Eli. Proud grand-
parents are Bernard and Toby Rivkin
and Irving Wiener. She is also the
granddaughter of the late Rae Rivkin
and the late Kathleen Wiener.
Rachel is an honor student at
Abbott Middle School in West
Bloomfield. She enjoys dancing com-
petitively, playing tennis and spend-
ing her summers at Camp Tamarack.
Her mitzvah projects included volun-
teering at Shaarey Zedek's Camp
Betman, playing bingo at the Danto
Family Health Care Center, volun-
teering at Doherty Elementary School
and naming a donation to Alyn
Hospital.
Julie Appleton
Zuckerman will
become a bat mitz-
vah on Saturday,
Nov. 18, at a
Havdalah service at
Temple Beth El. She
is the daughter of
Dr. Eric Zuckerman
and Betsy Appleton, sister of David
and granddaughter of Sidney and Fay
Zuckerman and Harriet and Norman
Appleton.
Julie is an honor student at
Bloomfield Hills Middle School,
where she plays volleyball and soccer
and is on the tennis team. She will
appear in the Wizard of Oz this year.
Julie enjoys chatting with friends on
the Internet and she divides her sum-
mers between Lake of the Woods
Camp and Nantucket Island.
For her mitzvah project, Julie took
a busload of friends to pack food at
Gleaners Food Bank in Detroit; and
she will donate baskets of teddy bears
to local charities.

the tennis team, active in dance and
loves animals and photography. Shayna
has been involved in many mitzvah
projects. This past summer she volun-
teered to work with young children at a
local synagogue.
Alexander David is an honor student
at Hillel Day School. He plays on the
varsity basketball and tennis teams and
runs track. In his spare time, he loves to
play baseball and hockey. Alex has been
involved in many mitzvah projects,
including working at Yad Ezra.
