Lila Silverman of Bloomfield
Hills was
presented
with a
Heroes
Award from
the Barbara
Ann
Karmanos
Cancer
Institute, in
recognition
of her
efforts to
Lila Silverman
educate
women and
their families about breast cancer.
Silverman, a longtime volun-
teer and institute supporter,
serves on the Karmanos Cancer
Institute Board of Directors. She
led special efforts to secure phil-
anthropic funding for the insti-
tute's Walt Comprehensive Breast
Cancer Center in Detroit and the
Karmanos Berkley Prevention
Center.
She and her husband, Gilbert
Silverman, recently completed
renovation of the Karmanos
Berkley Prevention Center as a
family project, along with son
"Buzz" and his wife Jan
Silverman of Bloomfield Hills
and daughter Wendy Silverman
of Troy.
