Kimberly and Matthew Morgan wel-

Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Kyle Laine Astrein will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Friday, Oct. 27, at
Temple Israel. She
is the daughter of
Jody and Gary
Astrein and sister of
Nolan. Excited
grandmothers are
Irene Astrein and
Eunice Galperin.
She is also the
grandchild of the
late Cyril Astrein and the late
Aaron Galperin.
An honor student at Derby
Middle School in Birmingham,
Kyle likes softball, tennis, basketball
and volleyball as well as playing the
saxophone. She found it very
rewarding to volunteer at the
Michigan Humane Society for the
past three years as an ongoing mitz-
vah project.

will be called to the Torah as a bar
mitzvah at
Congregation

B'nai Israel on
Saturday, Oct. 28.
Rabbi Leonardo
Bitran will lead the
services. Proud par-
ents Eileen and
Phil Epstein and
older brother Mike will also partici-
pate. Excited grandparents are Jack
and Loretta Knispel of Flushing,
N.Y. Dave's kvelling great-grand-
mother is Lilly Gorsky of Encino,
Calif.
Dave is an honor student at
Abbott Middle School in West
Bloomfield. He enjoys playing the
piano, golf, writing music and
wakeboarding on the family boat.
Dave's most enjoyable mitzvah pro-
ject was his volunteer service last
summer at the synagogue's Beth
Hayeled nursery school.
Gabriel Aaron Friedman will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
on Saturday, Oct. 28, at
Congregation Beth Ahm. Gabe is
the son of Paul and Olga Friedman.
His grandparents are Dr. Joseph
and Lillian Friedman and Anatoly
and Vitalia Kronik, all metro
Detroiters. Gabe's great-grandmoth-
er Mrs. Mirra Vorobyev and her
husband Dr. Ilya Gurevitch of New
York plan to attend.
Gabe attends Hillel Day School
of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills.
His interests
include Tae Kwon
Do, computer sci-
ences and collect-
ing rare and
unusual crystals.
Starr Elizabeth
Friedman will
become a bat mitz-
vah at Temple Shir Shalom on
Saturday, Oct. 28. On the bimah
with her will be her parents Susan
and Kenneth Friedman, brothers
Zachary and Tyler, grandparents
Eileen and Murray Friedman and
Cyrille Goode, as well as aunts,
uncles and cousins. Starr is also the
granddaughter of the late Jason A.
Goode.
Starr is a high honor student at
Berkshire Middle School in
Birmingham, where she plays clar-
inet in the band and has the lead
role of Cinderella in the current fall
production. Her mitzvah projects
included several days of volunteer-
ing at Wing Lake School, working
with children with special needs.
Starr enjoys piano, skiing, scuba
diving, softball and summers - at
Camp Tamarack.
Ilyssa Brin Golani will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Oct. 28,
at Temple Israel.
She is the daughter
of Lori Golani and
Belous Golani and
sister of Megan.
Grandparents are
Nettie Fox,
Nanajan and Vasil
Golani. She is also
the granddaughter
of the late Milton Fox.
A student at Meads Mill Middle
School in Northville, Ilyssa enjoys
swimming, dance, singing in the
choir, acting and playing the flute.
Her most meaningful mitzvah pro-
ject involved volunteering at an
eastside emergency shelter for
women and children.
Elizabeth Ann Heavenrich celebrat-
ed her bat mitzvah on Friday, Oct.
20, with the Workmen's
Circle/Arbeter Ring. Friends and
family joined Lizzie, her parents
Diane M. Urquhart and Richard
M. Heavenrich, brother Benjamin
James, sister Hannah Rose and
