Singles and couples age 35-50 are
invited to "Campaign 2000:
Implications for the Jewish
Community," a Havdalah program
featuring guest speakers Jim
Alexander, director of Gov. John
Engler's Southeast Michigan office,
and Maxine Berman, owner of
Capitol Strategies.
The event will be held 8 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Janice
Charach Epstein Gallery in the Jewish
Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
The program is sponsored by
Avenues through the Community
Outreach and Education Department
of the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit.
Avenues provides social, education-
al and cultural programs for individu-
als in their mid-30s to 50, while con-
necting to the Federation and greater
Jewish community.
Dessert will be provided.

Dream Lottery
Forms Available
Entry forms for the Israel Dream
Lottery are available for college stu-
dents who would like to spend a peri-
od of time in Israel.
The forms can be picked up at
congregations, campus Hillels and the
Michigan/Israel Connection of the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit, 6735 Telegraph, Bloomfield
Township.
The Michigan/Israel Connection
and Women's Campaign and
Education Department of the -
Federation are sponsoring the dream
lottery along with the Jewish News.
Cash prizes of $2000 will be
awarded for a semester program or up
to $1,000 for shorter programs. The
lottery is open to metropolitan
Detroit area students age 30 and
under who have completed one year
of college and are currently enrolled at
any college or university.
The cash prize may be applied
toward any program approved by the
Michigan/Israel Connection.
Deadline for entry forms is March 20,
20001. Only one entry is allowed per
person. There will be approximately
30 winners.
Applicants may be eligible for addi-
tional financial assistance toward the
cost of the Israel experience through
other sources.

YAD Hosts
Politics Panel
The Young Adult Division of the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit will host "Cocktails and
Politics," a panel discussion on
national and local issues at 7 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Fifth Avenue
Billiards in Royal Oak.
The discussion will be led by
Democrats Mark Brewer, chair of the
Michigan Democratic Party, and Dan
Cherrin, director of public policy of
the Detroit Regional Chamber; and
Republicans Marc Shulman, 39th
District representative, and Bryce
Sandler, finance director for
Congressman Joe Knollenberg.
The forum will be moderated by
pollster Steve Mitchell of Mitchell
Research and Communications.
Daniel Friedenzohn and Michael
Benechetrit will chair the event. The
program is sponsored by the YAD
Political Committee.
Reservation deadline is Oct. 16.
Cost is $5 at the door or a donation
