medical equipment and anti-
cancer programs in Israel. The
chapter is now financing an
anti-smoking program aimed
at Israeli children ages 5-7.

NCJW Plans CASA Training
The Greater Detroit Section
of the National Council of
Jewish Women is holding a
two-day training program in
late October for new Court
Appointed Special Advocates
(CASA) volunteers.
A CASA volunteer inves-
tigates homes where children
are placed by the courts. The
person may also talk to the
child, visit the child's school
and church, and even prison
if a parent has been incarcer-
ated.

The Israel Cancer Association
of Michigan will honor Dr.
Jeffrey D. Forman at the ICA
annual dinner 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, Nov. 16, at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Dr. Forman is professor and
chair of the Department of
Oncology at Wayne State
University and the Barbara Ann
Karmanos Cancer Institute in
Detroit. He has held faculty
positions at the University of
Michigan, Memorial Sloan-
Kettering Cancer Center in
New York and Cornell
University.
