They received the
recognition for
their leadership, sup-
port and dedication
to the GOP party.
Fisher personally pre-
sented the award to

he Republican Party hosted
a birthday bash for Max
Fisher, and instead of can-
dles and cake, there were
awards and accolades. The event, held
at the Marriott Renaissance, July 11,
was the Max M. Fisher National
Republican Leadership Award Dinner.
More than 600 patrons attended the
event. According to the Detroit Free
Press, the dinner raised more than $1
million for the GOP Victory 2000
campaign.
Leadership awards were given to
Jay Van Andel, co-founder of Amway
Corporation, and Robert Mosbacher,
former U.S. Secretary of Commerce.
