ANIMATING CONVERSATION
Eric and Susan Goldberg, two of Walt Disney's
most prominent directing animators, visit
Birmingham's Gallery Animato, 7-9 p.m. Friday and
11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, July 14-15. Eric Goldberg
directed two sequences for Fantasia 2000, "Carnival
of the Animals" and "Rhapsody in Blue," and also
created the Genie from Alladin, Phil for Hercules
and co-directed the feature film Pocahontas. Susan
Goldberg served as art director for her husband's
Fantasia 2000 sequences and has collaborated with
him on a number of other Disney projects.
The Goldbergs, who will discuss their work, open
an eight-week exhibit at the gallery titled "The Art
of Fantasia 2000." Never-before-seen artwork from
Fantasia 2000, Aladdin and Pocahontas will be on
display and available for purchase and signing.

through Sunday, July 23.
The festival consists of one main stage show, A
Midsummer's Night Dream, varied second stage per-
formances and other events, such as games, music
and talk backs with the directors and actors. Daniel
Friedman, the group's artistic director and founder,
directs A Midsummer Night's Dream. The gate opens
at 4 p.m., with the first show scheduled for 5 p.m.
and the main stage performance for 7 p.m.
The festival is located at Valley Court Park (cor-
ner of Evergreen Road and Valley Court Road) in
East Lansing. Suggested donation: $8 adults/$5 stu-
