There are recipes for Pesach

You will often stop along the way
to say, "Now wait, WHO is
Pauline?" (she's Danny's mother)

the Web has met up with those
insufferable pages filled with
hokey photos and utterly insipid
comments ("Here are our little girls
Barbara and Sue at Mt. Everest —
whoops,,I mean that's them stand-
ing in front of their luggage as
they set out for their first trip to La-
La LandlllIl You go, girls!!!!")
Danny and Debbi Freedman are I
British Jews and yes, they're going
to tell you all about themselves. But
along the way, you will get a real I
treat: a wonderful collection of
family recipes.
Debbi had a grandmother named
Hefty (in addition to learning about
Debbi and Danny, .you'll hear all
about their extended family: "Hefty
is mother to Helene and Thelma").
Hefty died in May 1997 and left
I behind a collection of recipes she
I had enjoyed for many years.
I Almost all of these are traditional
(gefilte fish, potato kugel, sponge
1 cake), though later generations'
dishes are often original ("Mum's
1 Famous Bolognese Sauce").

This is the biggest Jewish family
Web site you'll find. There are the
basics, like holiday descriptions
and recipes, but also many, many
articles that address everything from
"How to Talk to Your Kids about
Racism" to "Grandparenting Your
Interfaith Grandchildren" to "Why
Does God Make Scary Movies?"
Jewish Family & Life! also runs reg-
ular columnists and book reviews, a
sports section and a teen page.
One of the nicest features of this site
is that it is easy to read and does
not take a lifetime to download.

#5) GATES TO JEWISH
HERITAGE: at

www.jewishgates.org
This site opens with the words:
Go Learn!
Inside, you'll find answers to
almost any Jewish question you
could possibly imagine. There are
four general topics:
• Torah, Midrash and
Commentaries
• Historical Periods
