THE ONE & ONLY

(the only meat served at Beau Jack's)
tenderloin and fresh sliced wild shi-
itake mushrooms over greens with
Feta cheese, sliced red onions, toma-
toes and ripe olives.
The decor in Beau Jack's three
rooms is soft and handsomely simple
... with hand-painted murals of restau-
rant logos in Europe above the high-
ceiling walls ... stained glass through-
out ... cherrywood bar with 14 stools
... dark hewn cedar ... etc.
It is a seven day-a-week operation
... open Monday-Thursday, 11:30 to
10:30; Friday and Saturday, 11:30-
11:30; Sunday, 4-9.
The wine list, glass and bottle, is
quite extensive and impressive.
About three years ago, Beau Jack's
was closed for the installation of a 15-
stool piano bar ... it is a fine addition
... Jazz pianist John Perry also plays
the sax and clarinet, sings songs that
people can relate to, and answers
requests ... Thursday, Friday and
Saturday evenings, 7 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Beau Jack's has become a standby
that some people forget is there ...
Chances are that once remembering ...
and returning ... they'll hardly forget
again.
What son, Gary, has done in the
upkeep of the legacy built by Jack, is
something his wonderful dad could be
mighty proud of
Today, 25 years after opening, Beau
Jack's is even more so a very respected
dining institution.
CONGRATS .... to Dr. M
_ arshall
Shapiro ... on his birthday ... with cel-
ebration party given for friends ... by
wife, Dee, at Sposita's ... Humorous
message on cake by Dee read, "Don't
Even Ask!"
RECENT GATHERING of Sigma
Alpha Mu Fraternity alumni at
Knollwood Country Club, had about
70 fellows from University of
Michigan, Wayne State University and
Michigan State University ... Plans call
for a yearly get-together ... Next one is
May 16, 2001 ... For more info, call
Seymour Levine, (734) 462-2171, or
fax (734) 462-2177.
MANY OF THOSE who remem-
ber the egg salad on cheese bread sand-
wich they used to get at the Riverview
Room restaurant in downtown
Detroit's J.L. Hudson's, ask where it
can be gotten again ... If not eating
eggs these days, tuna salad on cheese
bread would taste good, too, they say.
ADD THE NAMES of Boyd and
Ruth Carnick among the couples who
recently celebrated their 60th wedding
anniversaries together at Knollwood
Country Club.
