The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit has opened a mailbox to assist
the rebuilding of an Aish HaTorah
building in Kiev, Ukraine, which was
destroyed in a fire June 2.
No one was injured in the blaze,
but massive material damage was
incurred. The center, which opened
in December 1999, has more than
500 members.
Recently, a group of young leaders
from Michigan visited the central
Galilee and Jerusalem with profession-
als and Hillel students from Kiev
through the Jewish Federation's
Partnership 2000 program. The three
communities planned future pro-
grams, including a Chanuka celebra-
tion in Kiev. One of the members of
this triangular leadership program is
the chairman of the Aish HaTorah
center in Kiev.
Checks may be sent to Aish
HaTorah Donations, Jewish
