The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit has opened the
Henry and Delia Meyers Memorial
Transitional Library. Due to renova-
tions to the interior of the building,
the library has moved from its first-
floor location to room 332 in the D.
Dan and Betty Kahn Building in
West Bloomfield.
The new library is expected to
open in the fall of 2001. Library
hours are Monday through
Thursday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and
Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

A four-week class, "Staying Healthy
on a Kosher Platter," will begin 10-
11 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the
Jewish Community Center in West
Bloomfield.
Registered dietitian Robin
Jacobson will present healthful, real-
istic strategies for cooking while fol-
lowing the laws of kashrut. Kosher
recipe modifications will be present-
ed.
The class fee is $33 for JCC
members and $45 for non-members.

Lawrence Berry
Leads SZ Board

Lawrence A. Berry was elected presi-
dent of Congregation Shaarey Zedek
at its 139th annual meeting. He has
been a board member, officer and
committee member over the past 15
years.
The native Detroiter's father,
Harold Berry, and grandfather, Louis
Berry, were presidents of the
Southfield-based congregation.
Berry is president of Michigan
Mortgage Lenders Corporation, a
residential mortgage company doing
business in Michigan and Indiana.
He is a past president of the local
chapter of the American Technion
Society and a board member of the
Jewish Theological Seminary in New
York.
He and his wife Sharon have two
children, Matthew and Katherine.
