Hooray For The
New Americans
lag Day is certainly the time to get patriotic, but this year brought new
meaning for those who recently earned their American citizenship. Fellow
students from their English as a Second Language class honored the new
Americans in a program held June 14 at the Oak Park building of the Jewish
Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit. In addition to reciting the Pledge
of Allegiance and singing patriotic songs; the group enjoyed a red, white and
blue dessert of blueberries and strawberries in white cups. ❑
