ARTHUR SALTZMAN, 79, of
Franklin, died June 18. Mr. Saltzman
held many management positions at
Ford Motor Company and was in
charge of training/management pro-
grams for salaried employees. He also
developed a program resulting in a
grant of $7.5 million and 250 acres of
land for the establishment of the
Dearborn campus of the University of
Michigan. Mr. Saltzman acted as a
consultant for the U.S. Department
of Energy in Washington and as
director of Michigan State
University's advanced management
program in Troy.
Governor George Romney appoint-
ed him director of Michigan's
Economic Opportunity Office/Anti-
Poverty Program and Governor
William Miliken appointed him to
Oakland University's Charter Board of
Trustees. In the village of Franklin, he
served as a member of the library
board, president of the Franklin
Community Association and trustee
of the village council.
Mr. Saltzman is survived by his
wife of 51 years, Florence "Jo"
Saltzman; daughters and son-in-law,
Arnie R. Saltzman of Franklin, Sarah
"Sally" Saltzman and Scott Loney;
grandchildren, Joshua and Joanna
Loney; sister, Doris Chertow of New
York; brother-in-law and sister-in-law,
Mickey and Jack Brown. He was the
devoted father of the late Ray
Saltzman; loving brother of the late
Howard Saltzman; dear brother-in-law
of the late Bernie Chertow.
