dream makers' commitment
to Yiddishkeit.
Because Doreen and
David Hermelin are two of
the dream makers, they
received the 2000 Dream
Maker Award from Hillel
Day School as well as the
Rabbi Jacob E. Segal Award.
(The late Rabbi Segal was
one of the school's
founders.) More than 1,200
patrons attended the June 6
event at Cong. Shaarey
Zedek, which was the
largest crowd for the annu-
al dinner in the school's
history. Marcie and Robert
Orley, daughter and son-
in-law of the Hermelins,
were the dinner chairmen.
The evening began with
a lavish cocktail hour set
up in tents. The program
included Cantor Larry

Hermelin clan, from David and
Doreen's first meeting at Camp
Tamakwa to their wedding, and to
their stay in Norway when David
served as U.S. ambassador.
Some of the volunteers who helped

ceeds.
Jody and Barry Rogow, Lisa and

men. They chaired the event in mem-
ory of loved ones who succumbed to
the disease. Jody Rogow's father, Jerry
