Rebecca Lee Anne Nyquist will
be called to the Torah as a bat mitz-
vah on Friday, May 26, at Temple
Beth El. She is the daughter of Jo
Ann and Dr. Douglas Nyquist and
the younger sister of Gurston and
Jonathan. Proud
grandparents are
Gordan and
Margaret Nyquist.
Rebecca is also the
granddaughter of
the late Gurston
Sidney Allen and
Laya Fauman Allen
of Toronto.
Rebecca is a sev-
enth-grade honor student at
Cranbrook Kingswood Middle
School in Bloomfield Hills, where
she plays violin- in the school
orchestra. She is a member of the
Kids Klez Band at Temple Beth El,
plays tennis and enjoys acting. She
is a state-competitive swimmer and
swims for the Sports Club.
Rebecca has volunteered
throughout the year at numerous
food shelters as well as the Greening
of Detroit. Her special mitzvah pro-
ject was to volunteer weekly at the
Danto Family Health Care Center.

Daniel Louis Pesick of West

Bloomfield will become a bar mitz-
vah Saturday, May
27, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. He is
the son of
Marianne and
Jerome Pesick and
brother of Jason.
Proud grandparents

are Betty Hersch of
West Bloomfield
and Nettie Pesick of Southfield. He
is also the grandson of the late
Martin Hersch and the late Julius
Pesick.
An honor student at West Hills
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills,
Daniel is active in forensics, band,
cross country and track. Daniel
completed the 13 mitzvot program
at Adat Shalom and especially
enjoyed volunteering at Yad Ezra.
