keting for Andiamo, is also doing the
hollering for Freedom Hill.
Its 2000 season opens with Bill
Cosby on June 9.
A DATE HAS BEEN selected for
the appearance of David Brenner at

Andiamo Italia on 14 Mile, between

comedian will be there, Friday, July 7.
EVERY THANKSGIVING, says
his daughter, Loretta Orzuch of
Temple Israel, the late Max Lobel
had Thanksgiving dinner for any-
body who came into his former
Clover Bar on Park ... It was Max's
way of saying "thank you"...The
turkey, sweet- and-sour meatballs
and trimmings, were cooked at home
by Loretta's mother, Ann, and mem-
bers of the family ... and brought to
the Clover Bar.
Before this, Max had the Los
Angeles Bar ... which, says Loretta, is
now the exact site of the present
MGM-Grand Casino, Michigan and
Third ... Across the street on
Michigan and Third was the Triangle
Bar, owned by the father of former
Detroit Tiger catcher Myron "Joe"
Ginsberg ... next to the Oriental City
restaurant on Bagley and Third ...
"My dad was a wonderful man who
befriended many people," says
Loretta.
THE SWEET SMILE of WXYZ-
TV Channel 7 anchor, Diana Lewis,
will have a pizza moustache ... as the
next celebrity in the Buddy's Pizza
campaign, "Got Pizza? Give Dough!"
Celebrities choose a signature pizza
and charity to sponsor with a portion
of the proceeds donated to that benev-
olent group ... Diana's choice is the
SEMHAC children's charity ...
(Southeastern Michigan HIV/AIDS
Council) ... Diana will be at Buddy's
Farmington Hills location on
Northwestern Highway at Middlebelt,
7:30 p.m. Friday, May 19.
HENRY YEE wasn't the first one
with ambitions of bringing a Chinese
junk ship here from China ... But
Yee, the late former mayor of
Detroit's Chinatown, was the first to
have thoughts about one being a
restaurant.
Sue Himelhoch, a former
Detroiter living in Flint, tells of her
uncle, attorney Isadore Arnold
Berger, having a Chinese junk built
in Hong Kong and shipped here in
1960 ... Its bright red sails flapped in
the wind, says Sue, as Arnold sailed it
on the Great Lakes ... His junk ship
had motors, slept 10, and was kept at
the Great Lake's Yacht Club. ❑
