DETROIT'S OSCAR NIGHT
According to Marj Jackson Levin, the
next best thing to being at the
Academy Awards in Los Angeles was
to watch them during the Detroit
Film Theater's Oscar Night benefit at
the Roostertail. More than 300
patrons enjoyed a red carpet entrance,
lavish food stations and big screen
viewing of the awards show, all spon-
sored by General Motors Corporation
and the Cinematic Arts Council of the
DIA.
Screenwriter Ken Droz, who flew
in from L.A., presided as the auc-
tioneer of seven fabulous packages.
One included flying to Amsterdam
with the Nomads, an exclusive pri-
vate flying club. Another prize was
having your name immortalized as a
character in an upcoming Elmore
Leonard novel. Some of the Oscar
Night attendees included Dorothy
Droz, Susan Borman, Arnold
Hirsch, Ruth Robbins, Helene and
Charles Levin, Connie Fenton,
John Bloom, Elliot Wilhelm, Nancy
and Sam Simpson, Marla Drutz and
Ron Kaplovitz, Adam and Ann
Smock and Jo Kessler. El
