The Grosse Pointe Jewish Council cel-
ebrated its 10-year anniversary with a
party at the Grosse Pointe HuntClub.
In 1990, friends were invited to
bring friends to a Chanuka celebra- .
tion. More than 100 people gathered
from communities throughout the east
side of metro Detroit. The result of
that party was the formation of the
Grosse Pointe Jewish Council.
For the past 10 years, the Grosse
Pointe Jewish Council has strived to
preserve and promote the heritage and
traditions of Judaism on the east side
of the metropolitan area and offer
educational and social opportunities.
Membership has grown to 180
families. The GPJC has a Sunday
school for the religious education of
children, holds Shabbat and High
Holy Days services and sponsors a
family Passover seder, a Yom Kippur
break-the-fast dinner and Chanuka
parties.
For membership information, call
(313) 882-6700.
