Laker Concert
At Temple Israel

Az Der Rebbe Zingt will be the theme of
the annual Harry Laker Memorial
Concert at Temple Israel, 3:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 9. Celebrating 125 years of
the seminary that pro-
duces Reform clergy,
the Hebrew Union
College-Jewish
Institute of Religion,
the program will fea-
ture four cantors
singing about rabbis.
Artists will be
Cantor
Lawrence Avery Cantor Emeritus
Lawrence Avery of
Beth El Synagogue,
New Rochelle, N.Y.;
Cantor Rebecca
Garfein of
Congregation
Rodelph Sholom,
New York City; and
Temple Israel's
Cantors Lori Corrsin
and Harold Orbach.
Cantor Avery has
had solo engagements
with the Julliard
Opera Theatre,
Tanglewood, the
Norfolk Symphony,
the National
Cantor
Rebecca Gaifein Orchestra
Association and the
CBS.Symphony, in
addition to several
recordings.
Cantor Garfein has
appeared in recitals
throughout the
United States, Israel
Harold Orbach and Europe.
Cantor at Temple
Israel for four decades, Harold Orbach
has earned an honorary doctorate from
the Hebrew Union College School of
Sacred Music. He has made 11 record-
ings and has been used as background
for films. In the last few months, he has
appeared in concerts from coast to coast
as well as in Israel. •
Cantor Corrsin is in her first year at
Temple Israel and is a former classical
concert artist in New York City. She
served at Larchmont Temple in New
York before coming to Temple Israel.
Recent appearances have included con-
certs in Detroit, Princeton, New York
City, Albany, Baltimore and Dallas.
Co-sponsored by Temple Israel's
Couples Club, the concert is open to the
