SADYE KOVINSKY, 95, of Bloomfield
Township, died Feb. 23. Mrs. Kovinsky
was a past volunteer at Sinai. Hospital
and a member of Hadassah.
She is survived by her son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Allen and Elaine Kovinsky of
Bloomfield Township; daughter, Harriet
Bubis of Nashville; grandchildren,
Marlynn and Kenneth Schiff, Beth and
Michael Rice, Mark and Susan

ELEANOR (BACHMAN) LAKIN, 70,
formerly of Franklin of Boca Raton, Fla.,
died Feb. 24. She was an entrepreneur,
teacher and bridge player.
She is survived by her beloved hus-
band, Dr. Alan Lakin; daughter and
son-in-law, Debra and Dr. Joel
Hershman; son and daughter-in-law,
Marc and Kelly Lakin; grandchildren,
Kate, Brian, Brett Hershman, Ryan,

was the mother of the late Robert

FREDA METZ, 100, of Southfield,
died Feb. 27. In 1925 at age 25, she
traveled to the United States and came
to live in her uncle's home in Detroit.
She worked in a bank for a short time
and then moved on to the foreign
exchange and steamship line business.
She arranged to send packages of cloth-
ing and money to families in Europe
and also arranged travel for clients
between the U.S. and Europe. In 1941,
she sold her travel-steamship business
and went into partnership with her hus
band and brother in
Senate Furniture on
Michigan Avenue near
Livernois. After her hus
band's death in 1952, s
went to school for a r
estate license and sold
real estate in Detroit.

Mrs. Metz was acti

tions, including being president of h
local chapter of Pioneer Women
(Na'amat). Among her many hobbies
were crocheting, reading and cookin
At age 91, she traveled to Israel for
three weeks.

Mrs. Metz is survived by her daug
ter and son-in-law, Lucy and Mike
Letwinski of Farmington Hills; grand
children, David and Terri Letwinsky,
Carrie and Henry Hook, Sandi and
Craig Eby, Ron and Missy Letwinski;
great-grandchildren, Tori Letwinski,
Kyle and Kelli Hook, Jen and C.J.
Eby, Noah Letwinski; brother and sis
ter-in-law, Aaron and Mildred Berg o
West Bloomfield. She was the belove
wife of the late David Metz.
