Wolok says that she has a strong
sense of color and uses loose brush
strokes. She likes the consistency of
oils and painting on canvas.
"I like colors as much as a kid
opening a new box, of crayons," she
says.
Learning how to market her
paintings has been a gradual process
for the artist. She became attuned to
holiday shows and was represented
at the Detroit:Artists Market last
year. She also pursued opportunities
at the Art Center in Mt. Clemens.
"I've found that I have to reach
out and get the word out to arrange
exhibits," says Wolok, who also has
had a show at the Jimmy Prentis
Morris Building of the Jewish
Community Center in Oak Park.
Besides affiliating with professional
groups, such as the Society of Women
Painters, Wolok is active with Jewish
organizations, including the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit,
Hadassah and Adat Shalom groups.
She also enjoys being part of an
investment club that closely follows
stock performance.
"I don't get attached to paintings,
and I change them around the
house," Wolok says. "Eventually, I'd
like to become more than a regional
artist.":
