Steven (Daniel Shmuel). Sister Emily,
20 months, welcomed him home with
great excitement. Thrilled grandparents
are Marlene and Marvin Frankel of
Huntington Woods and Shirley and
Murray Levin of Bloomfield Hills.
Daniel Steven is named in loving
memory of his maternal great-grand-
mother Dorothy Frankel and his par-
ents' dear friend Steven Isenberg.
Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Carla Schecter will become a bat mitz-
vah on Friday, Feb. 11, at Temple
Emanu-El. Carla is
the daughter of Susie
Schechter and Kim
and Larry Schechter
and sister of Noah
and Joey. Proud
grandparents are Judy
and Gordon Smith,
Dorothy Schechter-
Hoyt and Ivan Hoyt and Lee and Jerry
Gurwin. She is also the granddaughter
of the late Joe Schechter.
Carla is an all-A honor student at
Clarenceville Middle School in Livonia,
where she sings in the school choir and
is on the girls basketball team and stu-
dent council.
Carla's mitzvah projects at the temple
included working with the pre-school
and at the JARC (Jewish Assocition for
Residential Care) Chanuka party.

the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Feb. 12, at Adat Ariel
in Valley Village, Calif
Participating in the
ceremony will be her
parents, Stephanie and
Robert, and her broth-
er Matt. Proud grand-
mother is Gertrude
Salinsky of
Farmington Hills. Michelle is also the
granddaughter of the late Charles
Salinsky and the late Thomas and Freda
Collyer of London, England.
Michelle is a seventh-grade stu-
dent at the Montclair College Prep
-School in Van Nuys, Calif. She is an
avid soccer player and enjoys acting
and AOL. During the summer, she
volunteers her time at the junior
camp of Adat Ariel and is a member
of Kadima.
