Kenneth Justin Hansen will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Friday,
Feb. 4, at Temple Israel. He is the son
of Marilynn and
Brian Hansen and
brother of Shayna.
Proud grandparents
are Margaret and
Philip Katz and
Shirley Hansen.
Among his mitz-
vah projects were
volunteering at the
Holocaust Memorial Center and
assisting in Temple Israel's media
center and religious school.
Attending Berkshire Middle School
in Birmingham, Kenneth enjoys
hockey, collecting hockey cards and
sketching.
Rachel Ilyse Jacobson was called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Jan. 29, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek
in Southfield. Rachel
is the daughter of
Linda and Steve
Jacobson and the sis-
ter of Arica, Josh and
Marni. She is the
granddaughter of
Bernice the late Alvin
Jacobson and Louis
and the late Marilyn Soverinsky.
Rachel is an honor student at
Walnut Creek Middle School in Walled
Lake, where she enjoys performing in
the orchestra and competition choir.
She also plays piano and swims for the
Jewish Community Center Marlins.
For her mitzvah projects, Rachel has
delivered Christmas meals for the past
four years through the Salvation Army
and Shaarey Zedek, brought mishloach
manot to a JARC (Jewish Association
for Re8idential Care) home and per-
formed a Purim play there and helped
out at Shaarey Zedek.
Rachel's most meaningful experi-
ence, though, has been her partici-
pation each Friday afternoon before
Shabbat at the Fleischman
Residence in West Bloomfield. For
the past year, she has been there
every week to dance,' mingle, sing
and have fun with the residents. She
plans to continue this in the future.
Sandra Beth Liberman will become a
bat mitzvah on Saturday, Feb. 5, at
Temple Israel. She is the daughter of
Marcy and Dr. Michael Liberman
and sister of Kevin.

Joseph Rich and
Belle Liberman are
the proud grandpar-
ents. She is also the
grandchild of the
late Sidney
Liberman.
An honor stu-
dent at Orchard Lake Middle School
in West Bloomfield, where she plays
the clarinet in the symphony band,
Sandra likes dance and enjoys travel.
Her most meaningful mitzvah was
making dolls at Hadassah House for
hospitalized children.

Torah as a bat mitzvah on Sunday,
Feb. 6, at Congregation Beth Shalom.
She is the daughter of Nancy
Guerrieri and Dr. Sander Lipman and
sister of Robin Hays, Jennifer Smith
and Brooke Lipman. Proud grandpar-
ents are Rabbi Max and Rhoda
Lipschitz, Miriam Lipschitz and Ann
Fielder. She is also
the granddaughter
of the late Louis
Fielder.
Alexa is a sev-
enth-grade student
at Hillel Day
School of
Metropolitan
Detroit in
Farmington Hills. She like to read,
play tennis and work on the comput-
er.
Andrea Ali Podob will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Feb. 5, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. Andrea is the daughter of
Laura and Keith Podob. Her grand-
parents are John and Joanne Sposito
and the late Murray and Shirley
Podob.
Andrea is an
honor student at
O.E. Dunckel
Middle School in
Farmington Hills.
She enjoys music,
dance, swimming
and art; she attends
summer camp at the
Jewish Community Center. As part of
Andrea's mitzvah projects, she volun-
teered at the Fleischman Residence
and donated to the Michigan Jewish
AIDS Coalition.
