JACK M. TOMARIN, 84, of
Farmington Hills, died Jan. 18. Mr.
Tomarin was born and educated in
Detroit, attend-
ing Central High
School and
Wayne State
University. He
served in the
Army Air Corps
for four years
during World
War II.

Most of his life
was spent in the
furniture busi-
ness, first at Harper Furniture in
Detroit, then at Zenith Furniture in
Roseville. He was selected from 100
applicants to manage and set up the
furniture department of the new
Korvette Company of New York when
it opened in Detroit; it was a position
he enjoyed tremendously. For many
years, he was co-owner of Star
Furniture in Warren.
When he retired in 1983, he found
time to attend services every Saturday
and was available for evening and
morning services in the tradition of
his father at Congregation B'nai
Moshe.
He is survived by his wife of almost
56 years, Bernice Tomarin of
Farmington Hills; son and daughter-
in-law Marty and Nancy Tomarin of
.

included 20 years of teaching in the
humanities department at Wayne
State University, three years at
Northern High school and many years
as choir singer in synagogues in the
Detroit area, such as Beth Aaron, Beth
Achim . and B'nai David.
Mr. Silver served during World War
II in the signal corps attached to the
15th Air Force. In August 1945, he
was on a troop ship heading for the
Pacific when victory was declared.
Mr. Silver is survived by his wife of
58 years, Sarah Blechman Silver; chil-
dren Terry Silver of Ann Arbor, Lisa
Silver of Nashville; grandchildren
Olivia Silver of Nashville. He was the
son of the late William and Ida Silver;
son-in-law of the late Harry and Lisa
Blechman; brother of the late Herman
Silver and the late Ben Silver; brother-
in-law of the late Morris Blechman
and the late Samuel Blechman.
Graveside services were held at the
temple cemetery in Nashville.

Services and interment at the
Clover Hill Park Cemetery in
Birmingham. Contributions can be
made to the Make a Wish Foundation
of Michigan, Hospice of Michigan or
a charity of one's choice.

JEREMIAH "JERRY" WINKLER,
80, of Oak Park, died Jan. 23.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian
Winkler; son Robert Winkler of Oak
Park; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Contributions may be made to a
charity of one's choice. Interment at
Machpelah Cemetery in Ferndale.
