Tarik Daoud,
a businessman
and philan-
thropist who co-
chairs the Arab
American Jewish
Friends, will
speak at 8 p.m.
at the second
annual
Tank Daoud
Brotherhood
Shabbat. Last
year, he earned the group's
Community Service Award.
Daoud's auto career began in 1956
when he left Iraq to study at the
Detroit Institute of Technology. After
working at Stark Hickey Ford, he
moved to Al Long Ford. He later
became president and owner of Al
Long Ford in Warren and Shamrock
Ford Lincoln-Mercury in Clinton.
Committed to community service
and philanthropy, Daoud and his wife,
Helen, are major supporters of educa-
tion. The Bloomfield Hills couple have
initiated scholarship and endowment
funds totaling $500,000, including a
scholarship dedicated in the name of
Al Long Ford employees. As a member
of the Madonna University Board of
Trustees, he established the Daoud
Foundation Endowed Scholarship in
1991.

The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit will have a
country-western night for adults 8-
10:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, in the
gym at the Kahn Building in West
Bloomfield.
The evening will include line danc-
ing and square dancing. No experience
is necessary. The fee is $20 for mem-
bers and $30 for non-members.
Refreshments will be served.
The JCC also will offer six weeks of
country line-dancing lessons beginning
Thursday, Jan. 27. For experienced
dancers, class will begin at 9:30 a.m. A
beginners' class starts at 11 a.m.
