Harvey Cohen of Farmington Hills;

HERMAN STRASSBURGER, 89, of

Southfield, died Dec. 28. Mr.
Strassburger was the president of the
Gem Chass organization and helped
build their synagogue.
He is survived by his son and
daughter-in-law, Marvin and Jane
Strasburg of Mercer Island, Wash.;
daughter and son-in-law Carole and
Marvin Miller of Farmington Hills;
grandchildren David Miller, Joseph
Miller, Max Strasburg, David
Strasburg.
Mr. Strassburger was the beloved
husband of the late Kate Strassburger;
loving brother of the late Bella
Themal. Contributions may be made
to Congregation Beth Ahm, 5075 W.
Maple Road, West Bloomfield, MI
48322 or Karmanos Cancer Institute,
18831 West 12 Mile Road, Lathrup
Village, MI 48076. Interment was at
Hebrew Memorial Park. Services and

Farmington Hills, died Jan. 1.
Prior to retirement in 1985, Mr.
Stromer was a tank and equipment
procurement engineer for the U.S.
government. He was active with the
United Way for 40 years, a member of
the Service Corps of Retired
Executives, a lifetime member of
Congregation Shaarey Zedek and was
very involved in the civil defense
movement in the 1950s and 1960s.
He was also a member of the
National Association of Retired
Federal Employees and on the board
of directors of the Detroit Federal
Employees Credit Union.
Mr. Stromer is survived by his wife,
Selma Stromer; daughter and son-in-
law Betsy and Joel Kellman of
Huntington Woods; son and daugh-
ter-in-law Dr. Merrill and Ruth Ann
Stromer of Arizona; grandchildren
Jennifer Kellman Fritz and Ron
Kellman Fritz, Yoni Kellman and
Noah Stromer.

He was the beloved husband of the

late Selma Stromer for 60 years and
was the loving father of the late
Roxanne Stromer.
Interment was at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to the Roxanne Stromer
Scholarship Fund at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. Arrangements by Ira
Kaufman Chapel.

CHARLOTTE ANN TESSLER, 57,

of West Bloomfield, died Jan. 3.
A native of Detroit, Mrs. Tessler
graduated from Redford High School
and the dental hygiene program at th
University of Detroit. She practiced a
a dental hygienist for 10 years. She
served on the boards of directors of
Hillel Day School of Metropolitan
Detroit, Congregation Beth Abraham
Hillel Moses, Alpha Omega Women's
Auxiliary, Women's Division of the
Detroit Jewish Federation and the
Jewish Theological Seminary. She and
her husband, Warren, were awarded
the Jewish Theological Seminary
Second Century Award in 1991.
She is survived by her husband,
Warren Tessler; parents Philip and
Bertha "Birdie" Dworin of Southfield
son and daughter-in-law Dr. David
and Mary Tessler of Southfield;
daughters and sons-in-law Rachel anC
Rabbi Asher Lopatin of Chicago, Dr.
Ruth Tessler and Stuart Zisholtz of
Scarsdale, N.Y.; brother Joel Dworin
of Southfield; sister and brother-in-
law Linda and Harvey Freedenberg o
Harrisburg, Pa.; sister-in-law Dena
Wein; grandchildren Shira Gabriella
Zisholtz.
