ROSE TRAGER, 80, of Southfield,
died Nov. 21.
She was the wife of the late
Morris Trager; mother of Norman
Trager and Susan (Dennis) Brozes;
grandmother of Katie and Daniel;
sister of Goldie Pollock.
Private services were held.

EVELYN WEISSMAN, 73, of
Franklin, died Nov. 16.
"She he had zest
for living," said her
daughter, Margaret
Weissman. She was
a very passionate,
dynamic, brilliant,
fun-loving person.
And she was pas-
sionate about social
Evelyn
problems.
Weissman
Mrs. Weissman
was a sociology pro-
fessor at Wayne State University. She
was co-author of the book, Trial and
Error, on school desegregation. Mrs.
Weissman strongly supported deseg-
regation, but not school busing.
She earned master's degrees in
sociology and psychology from
WSU. While working on her disser-
tation on creative writers' alienation,
she befriended comedian Lenny
Bruce and author Richard Condon,
among others.
Her diverse hobbies and interests
included travel, gardening, art,
music, belly dancing and penguins.
"She was always taking classes," said
her daughter. "She was involved
with something new all the time."
She was also known for her knack
for entertaining, said her daughter,
inviting a "diverse group of people"
to her parties.
During the Detroit riots in 1967,
Mrs. Weissman took her three
young daughters to distribute bread
in the inner city. "She was on a mis-
sion to give food to the needy," said
her daughter. "Despite major obsta-
cles she did it because it was the
right thing to do."
Mrs. Weissman is survived by her
daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca
Weissman and Zoz Compagnari of
Franklin, Dr. Patricia Weissman,
Margaret Weissman and Irwin
Futernick of West Bloomfield;
grandchildren Sarah and Max
Futernick, Rose and Tony Marziale
and Sam Brugman.
She was the beloved wife of 45
years of the late Dr. Fredrick

GUSSIE L. WRIGHT, 97, of
Lakeland, Fla., died Nov. 16. Mrs.
Wright was an auto parts bookkeep-
er.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Samuel and
Harriett Klein of Farmington Hills;
daughters and sons-in-law Rose and
Robert Jones of Miami, Madelyn
and Julius Greenstone of Hillsdale;
grandchildren Rosemary and Robert
Lee, Kay-Ellen and Robert Murphy,
Gail and Douglas Cohen, Adrienne
and Harold Spencer, Michael and
Pamela Greenstone, Suzanne Gary;
and 10 great-grandchildren.
Interment was at Oakview
Cemetery. Arrangements by Ira
Kaufman Chapel.
