Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Daniel Aaron Berman will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Nov. 20, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. He
is the son of Nancy
and Jay Berman and
the brother of
Jeremy. Proud
grandparents are
Edward and Jeanette
Berman of West
Palm beach, Fla., and Gilbert and
Anne Rubenstein of Flint. Daniel is
also the grandson of the late Florence
Rubenstein.
Daniel is a seventh-grade honor
student at Orchard Lake Middle
School in West Bloomfield. He enjoys
scuba diving, music, in-line hockey,
computers and summers at Camp
Tamakwa. His mitzvah projects
included working at Yad Ezra and
making a contribution for cancer
research to the Weizmann Institute of
Science.

bar mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Friday, Nov. 19. He
is the son of Paula
and Mort Finkel and
brother of Lindsey
and Jonathan Gross.

the grandson of the
late Laurence
Garelik and the late Rita and Max
Finkel.
An honor student at Detroit
Country Day School in Beverly Hills,
Matt enjoys running cross country,
participating in the Science Olympiad
and music; he plays piano, drums and
the marimba. His mitzvah projects
included volunteering at Yad Ezra,
assisting at the Temple Israel Labor
Day picnic and donating to the
Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.

Amy Elizabeth Heimlich will become

She is the daughter
of Marlene and
Richard Heimlich

Her most meaningful mitzvah pro-
ject was volunteering at Yad Ezra. A
Berkshire Middle School student in
Birmingham, Amy enjoys tennis,
swimming, arts and crafts and cooking.
Matthew S. Laffer will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Friday,
Nov. 19, at Temple Israel. He is the
son of Kathy and
Dr. Michael Laffer
and brother of
Justin. Excited

His most meaningful mitzvah pro-
jects were volunteering at Yad Ezra
and in Temple Israel's Media Center;
he also assisted at the temple's Labor
Day picnic. An honor student at
Berkshire Middle School in
Birmingham, Matt especially likes to
play basketball, baseball and wake-
board, play the saxophone and attend
Camp Tanuga.
Matthew Alan Lisiecki will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Nov. 20, at Temple Beth El.
He is the son of Gayle and Robert
Lisiecki and brother
of Jeff. His proud

late Robert E.
Lisiecki.
Matt is an eighth-
grade honor student at Bloomfield
Hills Middle school. He enjoys foren-
sics, violin, soccer, track, swimming,
skiing and sailing. Matt's mitzvah pro-
jects include working at Temple Beth
El's coat drive, participating in Meals
on Wheels and volunteering at Safety
Town last summer.
Diana Michelle Parrish will celebrate
her bat mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Saturday, Nov. 20. She is the daughter
of Gail and Robert Parrish and sister
of Stephanie and Kristen. Excited
grandmothers are Dorothy Lynn
Hirschbein and Madelene Parrish. She
is also the grandchild of the late Della
and Robert Hirschbein and the late
George Parrish.
