Not like elegant elephants
or serene elephants. No.
Only really kitschy, cutesy
elephants. There are ele-
phants on the mezuzot,
one holding the shamash
candle on the menorah,
one being flattened by a
piece of matza on the
Passover sculpture, one
climbing on the seder
plate. If you haven't had
your fill of elephants,
there is an elephant
museum (did you know
Egyptians use elephants
in their art as well?), wed-
ding gifts, party favors and orthodon-
tia gifts with, guess what? More ele-
phants. To boot, the site has kitschy
music like blasting of Hava Nagila on
the opening page and the playing of
Dyanu on the Passover page.

Another New York store, this is big
on books and low on fun. For exam-
ple, although it says this has a chil-
dren's section, only one toy — a
wooden Shabbat set including two
wooden loaves of bread, a wooden ser-
rated knife, a kiddush cup, two wood-
en candles for $12.95 — is available;
the rest of the items in the section are
books. But if it is serious Judaica you
are looking for, you have found it her e.
There are tallit ($55 for basic
black striped or $325 for a
snazzy purple and teal design)
and mezuzot ($25 to $45 for the
parchment alone). The menorot
selection is incredible, from elec-
tric cheapies ($19.95) to ornately
beautiful "The Noble Lions" in
sterling for $2,400; that says
nothing about the 75-inch tall
community, solid brass number
for $1,995 that is adaptable for
outdoor use.
