University on Wheels, an all-day event
featuring Rabbi Sherwin Wine and
Brandeis Professor
Belle Jurkowitz, will
be presented on
Wednesday, Oct. 13,
by Brandeis
University National
Women's Committee
Detroit Chapter.
Rabbi Wine will
speak on "The Story
Rabbi Sherwin
of Jews in Detroit —
Wine
A Fresh Perspective."
Professor Jurkowitz
will discuss her book
Strictly by the Book,
the story of
BUNWC.
The program will
begin at 10:30 a.m. at
Adat Shalom
Belle Jurkowitz Synagogue. A $25

Rabbi Segal
Slates Talks

Adat Shalom Synagogue will host
Rabbi Benjamin Segal, this year's
scholar in residence to the metro
Detroit Conservative Jewish communi-
ty, on the weekend of Oct. 15-17.
A graduate of the Jewish Theological
Seminary, an author and educator,
Rabbi Segal will begin his visit at a 6
p.m. Shabbat service and dinner Friday
evening. He will present a discussion for
adults on "The Land of Israel: Vision vs.
Reality" At that time, children will
enjoy a program with live animals relat-
ed to the story of Noah.
On Shabbat morning, Rabbi Segal
will speak on "Relating to the Land of
Israel: From Genesis to Us." On Sunday
morning, his talk will be on "The Joys
and Ironies of Aliya."
Weekend events are being coordinat-
ed by the Adat Shalom Adult Study
Commission. Joyce B. Weingarten is
chairperson.
Fees for the Shabbat dinner are $15
for adults and $8 for children. There is
no charge for the Sunday program, but
reservations are required, by Monday,
Oct. 11. Call the Adat Shalom office,
