Rabbi Segal
Slates Talks

Adat Shalom Synagogue will host
Rabbi Benjamin Segal, this year's
scholar in residence to the metro
Detroit Conservative Jewish communi-
ty, on the weekend of Oct. 15-17.
A graduate of the Jewish Theological
Seminary, an author and educator,
Rabbi Segal will begin his visit at a 6
p.m. Shabbat service and dinner Friday
evening. He will present a discussion for
adults on "The Land of Israel: Vision vs.
Reality" At that time, children will
enjoy a program with live animals relat-
ed to the story of Noah.
On Shabbat morning, Rabbi Segal
will speak on "Relating to the Land of
Israel: From Genesis to Us." On Sunday
morning, his talk will be on "The Joys
and Ironies of Aliya."
Weekend events are being coordinat-
ed by the Adat Shalom Adult Study
Commission. Joyce B. Weingarten is
chairperson.
Fees for the Shabbat dinner are $15
for adults and $8 for children. There is
no charge for the Sunday program, but
reservations are required, by Monday,
