"It was a real community-building
event — a blending of education with a
coming together of neighbors," said Mark
Bennett, director of the year-old center.
The Siders — William, Michelle,
Joshua, 5, and Eli and Benjamin, 20
months — were among the families
with a sukka. The other sukka hosts
were the Kleins, the Subias, the
Sherizens, the Morrisons and the
Hartman-Silow family.
"It was really neat for the kids to
have such a fun experience," said
Michelle Sider. "It also added to our
sense of community"
The Siders, Congregation Beth
Shalom members, have erected a
sukka for five of the seven years
they've lived in the Woods.
"Sukkot is just a fun holiday for
us, a very social experience,"
Michelle said, "and we like it even
better when we share it with our
neighbors. fact, we invite friends
and neighbors over every night for
dinner or dessert.
"The more meaning you can give
to a holiday," she added, "the more
things you can associate with it, the
more people you can enjoy it with
-- all that makes it more fulfilling."
