Are Named

Dr. Norman and Harriet Rotter will
chair the Rabbi Daniel B. Syme Tribute
Committee.
Rabbi Syme of Temple Beth El will
receive the Justice Louis D. Brandeis
Award, the Zionist
Organization of
America's highest cita-
tion of merit, in
recognition of his
dedication to the
tenets of Judaism and
leadership on behalf
of Zionism and the
Harriet B. Rotter State of Israel.
The award presen-
tation takes place at
ZOA's 66th annual
Balfour celebration
concert set for Sunday,
Oct. 17, at Detroit's
Orchestra Hall.
Dr. Rotter, chief of
neurosurgery
at
Dr. Norman
Oakwood Hospital, is
Rotter
a member of the
board of trustees of Temple Beth El and
vice president of the Franklin Hills
Country Club; he is a board member of
the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and
the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival.
Harriet Roger, a practicing attorney,
is a leader and teacher in family and
matrimonial law. She is a former assis-
tant prosecuting attorney of Oakland
County and a former assistant professor
of political science and urbanology at
Oakland Community College. Rotter
served on the Governor's Commission
on Higher Education and received
Northwood University's Distinguished
Women Award. A board member at
Temple Beth El, she has been active in a
number of pro-Israel activities, includ-
ing the sale of Israel Bonds.

B'nai Moshe
USY Adviser

Emma Kleerekoper has been named
USY adviser at Congregation B'nai
Moshe. A longtime member of USY, her
professional experience includes staffing
a USY pilgrimage to Israel in 1997.
Kleerekoper is a graduate of the
University of Michigan with a
degree in education. For 2 1/2 years
she taught math and science for
grades 6-8 at Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit. She currently
teaches those subjects in the Huron
Valley school district.
