13th annual Apples and Honey
event brings old favorites
and new surprises for the
holiday season.

ealizing their annual "Apples and Honey"
event had grown beyond its name, the
planners from Jewish Experiences For
Families this year added the tag line "and
Lots, Lots More" to its tide.
Continuing to offer "apples" in the form of a
giant red, Apple Jumper moonwalk and "honey" by
way of The Beeman, who will demonstrate how it is
made, the "lots, lots more encompasses a multitude
of family-oriented fun and educational opportuni-
ties.
Debbie Rosenberg, program coordinator for
JEFF, a division of the Agency for Jewish Education
of Metropolitan Detroit, described the event as
"family programming to start off the new year in a
sweet, fun way." The afternoon will be filled with
activities ranging from Rosh HaShana celebrations
and Yom Kippur reflections through Simchat Torah
fun.
Held in West Bloomfield at the D. Dan & Betty
Kahn Building of the Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit, the Center's lobby will be

transformed into an arena of holiday projects and
learning areas. Guests can travel to various booths
sampling honey, producing artwork and visiting a
small, portable sukka.
JEFF volunteers will help children make holiday
crafts, including a guest book for sukka visitors; a
soft, stuffed Torah; and an educational as well as edi-
ble sukka creation.
