mobilizing volunteer readers,

Holiday Tickets
For Newcomers

Shalom Detroit, a program of the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit, is offering newcomers High
Holiday tickets to most local congre-
gations.
A service of the Federation
Women's Campaign and Education
Department, Shalom Detroit serves
as a welcoming committee to individ-
uals, couples and families that are
new to the Detroit Jewish communi-
tY.
Personal greeters provide new resi-
dents with advice on area schools,
synagogues, shopping and childcare.
Programs and events are held
throughout the year to introduce
newcomers to the area and to other
people in the Jewish community.
Shalom Detroit volunteers deliver
a welcome packet full of useful infor-
mation and discount coupons direct
to the new resident's doorstep.
Included in the packet is a guide to
Jewish. Detroit, a complimentary
four-week subscription to the Jewish
News, a coupon for a trial member-
ship at the Jewish Community
Center and much more.
For information, call. (248) 642-
