Maple, is a restaurant, but with all
those framed pictures on the walls,
designer chandeliers, antique brass ani-
mals, Oriental vases, etc., you would
think you were entering an art gallery
... The only thing for sale, however, is
the food served in Stefan Becharas's
gleaming cleanliness.
FRAMED CELEBRITY photos
and framed sports items line the walls
at Ginopolis' On The Grille, 12 Mile
and Middlebelt in Farmington Hills,
owned by top personalities in their
own rights, brothers Johnny and Peter
Ginopolis ... But the food, especially
broiled white fish and Montgomery
Inn barbecued ribs, is the big thing for
celebs and regulars who make this a
favorite place to go.
IN NORTHVILLE, McKinnon's
on Main Street is one of this area's
finest restaurants ... Owner Tom
McKinnon is so proud of his kitchen
that customers are always invited to
visit it at any time ... Best sellers surely
include the herbed Dover sole with
olive oil and garlic, topped lightly by
bread crumbs, skinned and debonned
at the table and served from the table-
side cart onto elegant plates.
IT'S DIFFICULT to say which of
Matt Prentice's restaurants is the best
... He has a lot of good ones ... One of
them, Northern Lakes Seafood Co.,
on Woodward and Long Lake Road in
the Kingsley Suites Hotel, started its
third year in June, and has already hit
about 2,000 pounds of fish a week.
WITH CHEF Randy Emert run-
ning the show at Paint Creek Cider
Mill & Restaurant ... Orion Road
between Lake Orion and Rochester ...
it's little wonder the place is always
packed ... Randy's smoked white fish
on a plank is great at this summer par-
adise of wonderful eating and fun.
THIS IS PEPINO's 15th anniver-
sary on Walled Lake Drive and
Pontiac Trail in old downtown Walled
Lake ... It's still the favorite of so
many who certainly don't mind wait-
ing for what they consider among the
best food of its kind around ... Those
who've had the rainbow trout become
sudden addicts.
MORE THAN SOME look upon
Rochester Chop House, Main Street
in Rochester, as one of metropolitan
Detroit's better-kept dining secrets ...
That's how good the food is.
TWO MORE DAYS have been
added to the live music presentations
at popular Fiddler Restaurant in the
West Bloomfield Plaza on Orchard
Lake Road ... Russian, Jewish and
American tunes are now Thursday,
Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings.
