She was the wife of 46 years of the
late Morris Gordner.
Graveside services were held at Shaar
Hashomayim Cemetery, Windsor.

FANYA GREEN, 94, of Southfield,

Danuta and Marta.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made to
the American Diabetes Association.

JULIE CLAIRE GUTTERMAN, 56,

former Detroiter of Providence, R.I.,
died June 15.
Mrs. Gutterman earned a bachelor's
in English with honors from the
University of Michigan and a master's
in teaching with honors from
Northwestern University. She earned a
master's in social work from Rhode
Island College, where she later was a
professor.
She was a member of the National
Association of Social Workers. She led
study groups and taught confirmation
classes at Temple Beth-El in Providence.
She is survived by her husband,
Rabbi Leslie Y. Gutterman; daughters
Rebecca Fay Gutterman of Jamaica
Plain, Mass., Elizabeth Claire
Gutterman of Brookline, Mass.; father
Gene Nagler of Williamsburg, brother
Dr. Harman Nagler of Dewitt.
She was the dear daughter of the late
Virginia (Harman) Nagler.
Interment in Rhode Island.
Contributions may be made to Jewish
Family Service, 229 Waterman St.,
Providence, R.I. 02906 or Temple Beth-
El in Providence.

Mrs. Green had a lifelong quest for
personal and spiritu-
al growth, an abid-
ing love of family,
friends and commu-
nity, and an unshak-
able belief in the
value and potential
of everyone she met,
according to her
family.
She enjoyed painting and dance. In
her later years, she took up Tai Chi. As
a volunteer, she assisted the elderly and
worked with children at a day care cen-
ter.
She was a member of the Founders
Society of the Detroit Institute of Arts,
the Music Study Club and the Palette
and Brush Club. She also was a mem-
ber of the National Council of Jewish
Women, Women's American ORT and
Girl Scouts of America. She was a sup-
porter of the Karmanos Cancer
Institute, UNESCO, and the Salvation
Army.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Henry and
Loretta Green of Southfield, Howard
Green and Paulene Reynolds of Beverly
Hills, Calif.; daughter Joan Green of
West Bloomfield; grandchildren Toby
Goodwin, Jennifer Green, Cheryl
Green, Joseph and Lisa Green; great-
grandchildren Darryl Goodwin, Justin
Goodwin, Zachary Goodwin,
Alexander Prog, Emily Prog, Harrison
Green; brother Joseph Newman of
Southfield and sister Molly Ruby.
Mrs. Green was the beloved wife of
52 years of the late Albert Green; sister
of the late Gus Newman, the late Hy
Newman, the late Barney Newman, the
late Dora Horwitz.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
to the Karmanos Cancer Institute.
Arrangements by the Ira Kaufman
Chapel.

Mrs. Halperin was a teacher for the
Detroit Public Schools and a member
of Women's American ORT and
Hadassah.
She is survived by her husband, Jack
Halperin; son and daughter-in-law
Gerald and Suzanne Kirschner of
Bloomfield Hills; son-in-law Alvin
Golman; stepchildren Jerome and
Margot Halperin; grandchildren Brian
and Elyse Kirschner, Jeffrey Kirschner
and Jayne Leib, Marla Hackett, Gary
and Rhonda Golman; seven great-
grandchildren; sister-in-law Lee Brody.
Mrs. Halperin was the beloved wife
of the late Jack Kirschner and the lov-
ing mother of the late Gayle Golman.
Interment at Beth El Memorial Park.
Contributions may be made to the
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

FANIA GREENBAUM, 83, of

FRED HERBST, 89, of West

Bloomfield Hills, died July 8. Mrs.
Greenbaum was a seamstress.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, David and Anna
Genadenhof, Joseph and Ewa
Greenbaum of Bloomfield Hills;
grandchildren David, Michael,

Bloomfield, died July 12. He was a
retired shoe salesman.
Mr. Herbst is survived by his daugh-
ter and son-in-law, Zona and Richard
Ribiat of West Bloomfield; sons and
daughter-in-law Norman Herbst of
West Bloomfield, Alan and Elaine
