chance to improve his game
for the future. For two
other veteran athletes, it's a
chance to play under the Stars and
Stripes one more time.
Dani Wohl, Philip Horowitz and
Jeffrey Deitch, all of West Bloomfield,
are Michigan's three representatives in
the Pan American Maccabi Games
next month in Mexico City.
Wohl is the rookie of the group. The
junior at West Bloomfield High School
will be gunning for a starting spot on
the junior basketball team, and didn't
even have to try out to go to the games.
"The coaches called and said there
was a spot open if I wanted it,” he
said. Wohl said the coaches, Brian
Schiff and Jerry Schwartz, saw him
play last summer in the Jewish
Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit Maccabi youth games.
Wohl travels to Mexico full of big
career aspirations: "I'm hoping to play
Division I college ball, so this could
