Woodward ... owned by Joan
Wittenberg and Dr. Sonya Friedman ..
It served a fast-food menu that con-
sisted of Healthy Jones drinks, sand-
wiches and pizza.
CHEF WHO TOOK Pancho
Valez's place at the London Chop
House on Congress was Milos Cihelka
... Prior to the Chop, he had opened
the gourmet House of Lords in the
Raleigh House ... After a couple of
years at the London Chop House,
Milos went to the Golden Mushroom
in Southfield ... He is retired today,
but still consults, teaches and writes.
AN 80 YEAR OLD Methodist
church with stained glass windows and
beautiful, high-beamed ceilings, still
remained a Northville showplace
when it became the Drawbridge and
later, the Captain's Table.
JOEY'S STABLE on West Jefferson
was named for its outside that resem-
bled an old livery barn ... Inside was a
wagon wheel chandelier, pine-paneled
walls covered with portraits of horses
. Chicken cooked in paprika-flavored
stew with dumplings was the big
favorite.
ONE WOULD NEVER know that
an automobile had driven into the
place ... That's how Jakk's Lounge on
Greenfield in Oak Park looked after
re-opening ... Good thing the accident
happened at 9 in the morning and not
9 at night.
IMAGINE HAVING a dancing
license for 20 years and never using it ...
That's what Wally Kostere did after
building his Kostere's on West 8 Mile
Road ... When he sold it, the new owner
took advantage of the license and folks
danced to their heart's content ... even
though there still was no dance floor.
ONE OF THE best sellers at
Trader Vic's in the Statler-Hilton on
Washington Blvd. in Detroit, was
Chopped Sirloin Hawaiian ... made
with beef, fried banana slices and fried
pineapple ... It was different and deli-
cious.
DEAL THAT FELL flatter than a
Chinese noodle under a steam roller
was that of King Wah not opening its
doors on Franklin Road ... The owner-
