The Jewish Community Center of
Metropolitan Detroit is holding
informational meetings next week for
three travel programs.
All three meetings will be held at
the D. Dan & Betty Kahn Building
in West Bloomfield.
At 7 p.m. Monday, April 12, a
Jewish cultural tour of eastern Europe
will be outlined. The Oct. 4-18 trip
will include Jewish sites in Krakow,
Warsaw, Prague, Budapest and
Vienna.
At 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, the
JCC's Cruise Alaska trip aboard the
ship Norwegian Wind will be dis-
cussed. The Inside Passage trip June
21-28 will include stops at Glacier
Bay, Juneau, Skagway, Ketchikan and
Haines.
At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 18, the
Jewish Heritage Tour of England,
Ireland and Wales will be explained.
The trip dates are June 9-22.

Mishpocha (family) has been central
to Jewish life throughout the ages.
Jewish Theological Seminary faculty
members will explore family ques-
tions at JTS Elderhostel 1999,
"Mishpocha and Millennium: the
American Jewish Family Confronts
the 21st Century," Sunday-Friday,
April 25-30, at the JTS campus in
New York City.
The program will explore the his-
tory of the Jewish family through a
variety of sources, including classic
Jewish text (Bible and Talmud),
modern writings in history and
sociology, Jewish geriealogical mate-
rial and film. Participants will also
tour points of Jewish interest in
New York City.
Elderhostel offers senior citizens an
opportunity to engage in a course of
Jewish study with JTS faculty. Co-
sponsors are JTS and the Women's
League for Conservative Judaism.

seeking workers for Helping Hands, a
non-profit program managed by the
hospital's Older Adult Services.
Volunteers provide companionship,
assistance and transportation to inde-
pendent-living and homebound senior

ly named chief of foot and ankle
surgery for the Department of
Orthopedic Surgery at the Wayne
State University School of Medicine.
