Kosher for Passover
Web site is nothing
to get excited over,
looking very similar to a search
engine as it shows off the 14
different categories ro dig
through.
Once getting into the site,
it becomes apparent that the
site is nothing more than a
place to hold a lot of links.
The site itself doesn't have a
wealth of original material.
Despite the wealth of good
information, the site is diffi-
cult to ger around in.
Any link that opens up to an exter-
nal site does so by opening up a new
browser window, forcing users to
jump back and forth between the site.
What it does a nice job of is
explaining information using the sites
of different movements and individu-
als, for example explaining the seder
plate by linking to a Reform site,
while explaining the story of Passover
from a Chabad site.
As a multi-media site, it gives dif-
ferent links for places to learn more
about the holiday and download
sound clips. There also is a link to the

Aish HaTorah Web camera at the
Western Wall in Jerusalem, a down-
loadable Passover screen saver featuring
matzah, pyramids and the Ten Plagues.
The site isn't in business just to
give out information. Venders sell
their Passover wares: books, haggadot,
plastic sink liners and place mats, dish
towels and pot holders with the
design of a piece of matzah on them.
The site is definitely one-stop shop-
ping for both adults and kids looking
to buy fun things, or learn more
about the holiday.

a
while back we looked at the
Web site operated by the
descendants of Sholom
Aleichem, the giant of
Yiddish literature. A recent e-mail
from proprietor Robert Wade suggest-
ed that the site has been upgraded; a
return visit demonstrated that he was
right, and then some.
The attractive, easy-to-navigate
homepage offers a good, accessible
introduction to the life and writings of
the famed chronicler of Eastern
European Jewish life — born
Solomon Rabinovitch in Ukraine in
the middle of the 19th Century.
Aleichem, who died in New York in
1916, offers a poignant, humorous
glimpse into the world of the shtetl;
his stories about Tevva the Dairyman
Tevye der Mitchiger were the basis for
the hit musical Fiddler on the Roof
