Daniel Pipes, the editor of the Middle
East Quarterly, will address the annual
meeting of the Zionist Organization of
America-Metro
Detroit District.
His free public
lecture on "The
Israeli Dilemma: Is
Genuine Peace
Possible?" will take
place at 3 p.m.
Sunday, March 28,
at Congregation
Daniel Pipes
Shaarey Zedek in
Southfield.
Pipes, a University of Pennsylvania
senior lecturer, has served in the U.S.
Departments of State and Defense. The
Harvard University graduate is a corpo-
rate consultant on the Middle East.
The author's most recent book,
Conspiracy: How the Paranoid Style
Flourishes, and Where It Comes From,
establishes the importance of conspiracy
theories in modern European and
American politics.
Pipes is vice chair of the Fulbright
Board of Foreign Scholarships, appoint-
ed by the president. From 1986 to
1993, he was director of the Foreign
Policy Research Institute.

Pro-Detroit
College Connection

Pro-Detroit will host an evening of
food, fun and prizes at its college con-
nection dinner for Michigan State
University students, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
Sunday, April 11, at Beggars Banquet,
218 Abbott Rd., East Lansing.
Pro-Detroit is a Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan Detroit program that
encourages young adults to live and
work in metro Detroit. The program's
services include helping them find
roommates and housing, and provid-
ing information on social events, con-
gregations and opportunities to volun-
teer and otherwise get involved in the
Jewish community.
Job hunters can receive help
through the Pro-Detroit Internship
and Employment Connection, which
is operated in conjunction with Jewish
Vocational Service.
The dinner in East Lansing, co-
sponsored by Federation's Young Adult
Division, is free of charge. Reservation
deadline is Sunday, April 4; call Margo
