Nether a kid looking for fun
or an adult looking to
learn, there's a Web site
both age groups can share: Virtual
Jerusalem's Purim site.
The site has four main areas:
Purim Perks, Purim Parade, the
Purim Picture and the Power of
Purim.
The Purim Perks
component seems as
the :•,-•ho.fe
much for older kids as
adults. The Wild
Megillah presents the
story of Purim in a
nutshell, complete with
sound effects and
Haman humor, and
there are Jewish and
Christian parochial
school student writings
about the Bible —
none of them histori-
sz
cally correct, albeit
quite funny.
Purim Parade is the best spot for
younger kids. They'll enjoy the vir-
tual Purim play, which requires a
special plug-in to your Internet
browser (have no fear, instructions
are there). The play consists of 16
black and white pictures, which can
be downloaded to make a coloring
book.
Also for kids is the Mad Lib
Purim story, where nouns, verbs and
adjectives are used to fill in the
blanks, and "morphing Persians,"
which is a "who am I?" game pre-

The Purim Picture and Power of
Purim sections certainly require
more time and energy to read
through. The former addresses ques-
dons about the holiday, such as what
happened and when it happened. It

has a great deal of information on
customs here and around the world.
The Power of Purim takes a con-
siderably deeper look at the holiday
than the other three sections do. It
offers insights into the megillah,
women heroines and the history of
anti-Semitism.
Overall, this is a great site not
just because of the wealth of infor-
mation it contains, but because it's
usable by people of many ages. 1-1
